Here are a couple of quotes for today and a flower or two to go with them.  Hope you enjoy!!!

Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature. – Gerard De Nerval

Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven’t time, and to see takes time – like to have a friend takes time.  – Georgia O’Keeffe

Tis the Season to Be Tranquil

December 1, 2011 8 comments

One thing I’ve learned with having Lymes is that I need to be tranquil and calm.  When I’m stressed, my body really reacts to it.  I just wanted to remind myself and everyone else to take a moment out and stay peaceful and calm.  I know for me meditation is part of it and doing my daily energy routines, keeps me peaceful.  We all have our own unique was of relieving stress.  I know getting a camera in my hand works well too.

Quote:  Good humor is one of the preservatives of our peace and tranquility.  - Tomas Jefferson

Laughter is always a stress reliever.  Jo Bryant, Chronicles of Illusions, the other day put out a blog called Dumb things people say… and here are a few excerpts from it.  Note:  If you are a lawyer you may not think it is so funny :D

ATTORNEY: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact?
 WITNESS: Gucci sweats and Reeboks.

ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn’t it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn’t know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?

ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?
 WITNESS: By death.
ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?
 WITNESS: Take a guess.

The last one reminds me of a conversation I had with one of my high schools teachers.    I was born in Moscow, Idaho which is a small college town in the United States.  Most people have not heard of the town and I loved to say I was born in Moscow because people would automatically think it was Moscow Russia.  The conversation I had with my teacher went as follows:

Teacher:  Where were  you born?

Me:     Moscow

Teacher:  Was one of your parents over there?

Me (in my head laughing):  Yeah, my dad!

Autumn – It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.

November 11, 2011 17 comments

It’s Friday and another week is coming to a close. I’ve been really tired this week since, I did some aerobics at my volunteer job.  I hadn’t really participated in them since this nasty cold I have.   I might have over-done it a little too much, because my blood sugar has been high.  As Chris reminded me of two things today.  One was that I sometimes have  just try to see how much you can do (for example the aerobics).  The second is that Lymes disease is an auto-immune disease along with diabetes, so it will take me longer to fully heal from this cold.  So it is going to be an rest and relaxation weekend for me.

Here is a quote for today as well!!!

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.

The autumn colors are getting real pretty here in Oregon.  So I thought I’d post a few of the autumn photos that I have.  Hope you enjoy the show.

Today is My Birthday and Free Hugs

November 7, 2011 36 comments

Chris and I don’t celebrate holidays in the traditional sense of the word.  We celebrate every day and any day.  Most holidays we have pizza and just spaz together with our 4-legged kids.

Touch2Touch has a wonderful blog entry called Free Hugs …. please view it.  It will uplift you and make your smile even brighter!!!!

Today, I found this wonderful quote by Susan B. Anthony.

“Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations, the weddings, not the great goals achieved. The real milestones are less prepossessing. They come to the door of memory unannounced, stray dogs that amble in, sniff around a bit and simply never leave. Our lives are measured by these.”

And how true it is.  What are the days that made your life seem important?  What are the days that changed your life?  Or what are the days that just felt wonderful?  I love my last question.  My best days are the days we just take off in the car, camera in hand and see what life has too offer with no specific destination in mind.  Sometimes I take photographs and sometimes I don’t.  We just do what feels spontaneous and good.  Sometimes those days are just staying home and watching NCIS all day long (yes we have all the seasons on DVD).

Here is a photo I took of MacKenzie on such a day.  Chris and I were just spending some time in a local rhododendron park here in Canby.  MacKenzie is always looking for an adventure and I think it shows up in her eyes on this image.

MacKenzie, our pug, in the park on an adventure!

Enjoy and remember those wonderful days of your life!!!

It’s the end of the week and I’m out of ideas!

October 7, 2011 7 comments

Have you ever had a day where you just didn’t know where to begin with your blog?  I’m having one of those days.  It’s the end of the week and I’m out of ideas.  I’ve worked hard this week and I’m worn out and tired.  I thought of some ideas, but they all seem to hard to think about, write about, or find a photograph or two to go with it.  So I think I’m going to search for a quote and come up with a photo or two from my library that might go with the quote.

“I do not exist to impress the world. I exist to live my life in a way that will make me happy.”
Richard Bach, Illusions

A couple of photos come to mind when I saw this quote.  Animals who always seem to be happy.  Here are two young alpacas that I took a couple of years ago, when the owners of the alpaca farm let both Chris and I in to photograph them.

The other two photos that I’m thinking off, I took at Swan Island Dahlias.  One of my favorite places in the whole world.  Those of us who get to participate in our passions are truly living a blessed and happy life.
